Compensation: $18.00 to $22.00 per hour

BASIC FUNCTION: The Assistant Activities Manager supports the Director of Activities in the daily management and execution of the resort’s recreation and activities operations.  This position provides direct supervision of activities staff and ensures the successful implementation of children’s programs, adult activities, special events, and group programming. 

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Prior recreational and/or hospitality experience preferred
  • Two years college education preferred.
  • Three years’ experience in a major resort or parks & recreation department preferred
  • One year supervisory experience
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong knowledge of pool operations, bikes, children’s activities programs, ice rinks, corporate team building and event planning.
  • First Aid Certification preferred
  • CPR Certification preferred
  • High school/GED or equivalent experience
  • Must be able to write, speak, and read English
  • Must possess basic computer skills
  • Must be able to respond to guest requests quickly and efficiently
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of all recreation areas including swimming pools (indoor & outdoor), Virtual Reality, Immersion Theater, Arcade, Rainbow Point, and other designated activity areas.
  • Ensure all recreation facilities and equipment are clean, safe, and in proper working order.
  • Enforce all pool rules and safety policies
  • Maintain active presence throughout the recreation areas to monitor guest satisfaction and staff performance.
  • Manage hotel pool operations and department functions in the Director’s absence
  • Provide direct supervision of Activities Attendants and recreation staff
  • Assist with staffing schedules and daily labor adjustments based on business levels
  • Coach, mentor, and support staff to ensure high service standards
  • Assist the Director in keeping an inventory of supplies, including pool towels
  • Assist the Director in ordering supplies, reconciling the department’s checkbook, and uploading invoices for payment
  • Monitor staff performance, appearance, attendance, and conduct; report concerns to the Director
  • Support onboarding and departmental training initiatives
  • Ensure all staff adhere to resort policies, procedures, and safety standards
  • Lead, prepare, and conduct children’s activities, adult programs, holiday events, and group activities as needed
  • Support corporate and convention group programming
  • Assist in implementing weekly and season activity calendars
  • Take and manage reservations for activities
  • Ensure proper posting and communication of activities and special event information
  • Deliver exceptional guest service and proactively resolve guest concerns
  • Make guest requests a top priority within policy and safety standards
  • Instruct guests on resort activities and facility locations
  • Communicate effectively with all resort departments regarding activities operations
  • Troubleshoot and assist guests with games and immersive recreation areas as needed
  • Assist with department cash handling and maintain accountability of the department bank
  • Complete assigned administrative tasks including paperwork, phone/email communication, and reporting

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Operation of office equipment and department systems
  • Performing administrative tasks, such as answering phones/emails and completing paperwork
  • Attends appropriate hotel meetings and training sessions
  • Required to perform all other tasks and duties as assigned
  • Scheduled hours may vary on business needs and may or may not include holidays, weekends, various shifts, overtime or reduced hours

ENVIRONMENT: Indoor, well-lit, carpeted office environment. Indoor pool facility, humidity and tile surfaces. Outdoor pool areas, weather permitting, concrete walking surfaces. Outdoor variable spaces including paved sidewalks, grass patches, covered & uncovered spaces.
