The Assistant Director of Sales responsibility is to supervise the overall sales effort of the hotel, including developing new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, rate and inventory management, supervision of sales related personnel, work closely with Director of Sales/GM on implementation of sales and marketing strategies to maximize profits of the hotel while maintaining guest and associate satisfaction.
What you'll be doing...
- Provides professional and courteous service at all times.
- Achieve/Exceed individual booking goal expectations and assist team in driving results
- Supervises assigned sales staff: when applicable; disciplinary actions, performance evaluations and development of team.
- Qualifies prospective leads.
- Participate/execute: participate in revenue calls, attend management meeting, co-lead sales meetings, etc
- Meets with and maintains rapport with individuals and contacts in order to produce groups and/or convention business, to include Guest room, meeting space, services and Catering/Banquet sales for both the group and transient markets.
- Assist with sales budgetary requirements as stated in the annual marketing plan and budget.
- Ensure sales presence for high profile events hosted in the hotel.
- Attend/ensuring sales presence at local networking events and ensure a positive rapport and relationships with area decision and opinion leaders including but not limited to, local chamber, convention and visitors bureau, etc.
- Maintains liaison with other departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients.
- Assists DOSM & the General Manager in the creation and update of the hotel's marketing plan/budget.
- Formulates and executes projects for all market areas as stated in the marketing plan.
- Develops and maintains departmental budgets.
- Maintains good rapport with area business leaders and local civic groups and companies.
- Enforces sales related policies and procedures.
- Ensures sales activities meet or surpass profit plan.
- Develops and maintains client files.
- Develops and implements sales and marketing strategies.
- Approves function space allocation for group catering and meeting bookings.
- Stays abreast of competition and industry developments.
- Increase market share based on executing sales strategizing.
- Prepares reports as outlined including, but not limited to Productivity Report, Weekly Reporting, EOM Reporting, Team Goal Reporting, Forecasting.
- Work closely with Operations F&B & Rooms to ensure above average service levels.
- Assist/conduct as instructed bi-weekly sales meetings.
- Attends weekly staff meetings & daily stand ups/execute sales stand up.
- Attends and present data, as requested at all meetings with management company/team and ownership groups for the hotel.
- Interviews, assist in hires, trains and evaluates all sales personnel as required.
- Completes projects as determined by the General Manager/DOSM.
- Speak extemporaneously on a variety of subjects.
- Data: Coordinating: Determining time, place, and sequence of operations or action to be taken on the basis of analysis of data; executing determination and/or reporting on events.
- People: Negotiating: Exchanging ideas, information, and opinions with others to formulate policies and programs and/or arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions or solutions.
Success factors...
Experience & Education:
- Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Minimum Years of Experience: Four (4) Years of Hotel Sales Experience with consistent track record of achieving annual production goals
- Additional Requirements: Ability to travel on short notice and adaptable to schedule changes.
- Highly professional presentations and oral and written communication skills
- Affiliation with professional organizations with a tie to the travel industry
- Full-service hotel experience
- Proficiency in Delphi FDC
Communication:
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including electronic communication
- Must be able to speak, read, and write in primary language used in the workplace
Physical:
- 8+ hours per day sitting desk/computer; stand and walk occasionally throughout workday
- Lift, lower, and maneuver up to 10 pounds occasionally
- Manual dexterity and repetitive motions required throughout workday
