As a Cocktail Server, your creative flair and passion for beverage and hospitality will help your Bar team to a superior beverage experience to our guests. Though your effective knowledge, skills and innovation, you will help execute the best beverage service, that places The Hotel Fort Des Moines’ In Confidence speakeasy on the map as the "The best Cocktail bar in Des Moines". a Cocktail Server must be proactive in handling guest needs, be highly engaging, service-oriented, and take a creative approach to problem solving. The primary responsibility of a Cocktail Server is to deliver and exceed guest expectations, exceed the Hotel’s vision, resolve challenges, and maintain excellent communication with guests, peers, and management. You will help drive the future expectations of our cocktail program!
What you'll be doing...
Primary Job Duties – Includes, but is not limited to:
- Greet, serve, interact with guests courteously and in a timely manner with an upbeat attitude.
- Respond to guest inquiries and requests, concerns and complaints regarding beverages and correct and resolve in a courteous and respectful manner.
- Anticipate guest needs and inform guest about venues, menus, specials, pricing and directions.
- Strong knowledge of portion control and product identification. Knowledgeable about our beverages and other company functions and services.
- Recognize and cultivate regular guests and repeat business.
- Maintain line of sight/atmosphere control by circulating through your work area throughout shift
- Report any incidents of theft, vandalism, or violations to management.
- take bottle menu, beverage, and bar orders from Guests table(s) and communicate orders to the service bar through POS terminal or in person
- Organize and prioritize service per appropriate service sequence.
- Up sell and suggestively sell menu items, specials and beverages at all times.
- Check food and beverage orders prior to serving to ensure that they are correct, properly presented and that special requests have been met.
- Prompt delivery of all beverages to appropriate tables and assigned work area(s).
- Manage multiple tables and tasks in an efficient and pro-active manner. • Monitor potentially intoxicated and/or disruptive Guests and promptly bring to a Manager’s attention.
Success Factors...
- Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English.
- Polished appearance and demeanor.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Lift, lower, and maneuver up to 30 pounds frequently
- Ability to obtain & maintain full knowledge and understanding of company and department rules and regulations, policies and procedures.
- 8+ hours per day; stand and walk frequently throughout the workday
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
Preferred
- At least one year of customer service experience.
- Strong knowledge of spirits, wine, champagne, beer and mixed cocktails.
- Previous experience working in a restaurant or nightclub or bar a plus.
