About this job...

We are seeking a friendly, positive, service-oriented, and self-motivated Rooms Controller to join our team.  The rooms controller will work closely with all departments throughout the hotel. This position’s primary function is to manage the assignment of rooms while supporting the property by acting as liaison between housekeeping, front office, food and beverage, sales, and engineering. The ideal candidate for this role is highly communicative with superb customer and team member relation skills.

What you'll be doing...

  • Assigning daily cleaning tasks
  • Reviews Specials Report for all arriving guests to ensure appropriate pre-blocking of rooms and to coordinate special services to be provided
  • Communicates all special requests to Housekeeping
  • Coordinates with Room Service to ensure accurate and timely amenity deliveries
  • Monitors and ensures completion of all room changes
  • Monitors HotSos, OnQ, Kipsu systems daily
  • Checks the status of all Out-of-Order rooms daily
  • Monitors availability of showrooms for the sales department
  • Reviews group resumes to verify group billing procedures, VIPs, and special requests
  • Pre-register designated guests and prepares key packets.
  • Participates in department meetings
  • Monitor arrivals to ensure that rooms are ready by check in time
  • Improves service by communicating and assisting individuals to understand guest needs, providing guidance and feedback
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks at once with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with daily hotel occupancy reports, status of available rooms, etc.
  • Monitor room category and bedding availability, up to three days in advance, to prevent overbooking
  • Supports day-to-day operations, to ensure for quality standards and meeting the expectations of the customers daily
  • Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others; advocates sound financial/business decision making; demonstrates honesty/integrity; leads by example
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Requirements...

  • Minimum of 2 years experience working hotel guest services, front desk, or related professional area
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to access, retrieve and leverage info from the hotel property management system is expected.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of team members and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Approach all encounters with guests and team members in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
